Wildlife first aid course

Kanyana Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre has released their 2013 program of wildlife first aid courses.

With a focus on training people who work on mining and construction sites, the program will give attendees the knowledge and skills necessary to care for sick and injured wildlife. Training is offered at the remote site or at Kanyana’s premises in Lesmurdie.

Our administrator Marisa explains more or view the flyer.

Management

Kanyana Wildlife is managed at a number of levels:

Executive Committee

The Management Committee consists of seven long standing volunteers, with June Butcher AM, founder of Kanyana Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre (Inc.), as Chair. This committee decides policy and makes general management and financial decisions.

Hospital Manager

Kanyana currently has a part time Hospital Manager who is responsible for all aspects of running the hospital.

Supervisors

A team of volunteer supervisors and treatment personnel supervise each shift of volunteers. The Supervisors are led by the Hospital Manager.

Veterinarians

We have a number of veterinarians volunteering at Kanyana. We also host vets studying Post Graduate Conservation Medicine through Murdoch University.

Volunteer Carers

Over 120 voluntary carers work 3 shifts a day, 7 days a week, every day of the year. These volunteers are kept up-to-date on current topics by their supervisors at 'tool box' meetings on a regular basis. The volunteers undergo induction training when they start at Kanyana and further training during their time at Kanyana.
