We also encourage nocturnal visits to Kanyana in small groups, as this shows our wildlife feeding and interacting with each other.
A fee is charged for our education programme and this assist us to fund our organisation, as we do not receive any funding other than that we generate ourselves. Bookings are essential.
Kanyana is associated with various high
schools providing many students with work experience, Instep or Worklink
programs. These people are generally people who are seriously trying to
move into animal care as a career.
T.A.F.E. students studying Animal Care and Veterinary Nurse courses also need practical hands on experience which can be provided at Kanyana. Tertiary students from Curtin, UWA and Notre Dame Universities, studying Biology, Zoology and Environmental Sciences gain experience with wildlife at Kanyana.
Kanyana is the venue of choice for many Murdoch veterinary students, in their second year and in their fifth year, who want to gain experience with wildlife during their studies. This year, Kanyana will take part in two new programmes; the Post Graduate Certification in Veterinary Conservation and the Masters in Veterinary Studies (Conservation Medicine) for experienced veterinarians which involves much needed research for wildlife.
